Arcwelder
Here's an early Bob Mould album. Hang on, it's an actual band and they're all wearing Husker Du T-shirts and consider "Workbook" to be the greatest album ever made.

Fluf - Home Improvements
Although San Diego based Fluf were a band that had a New Zealand connection through drummer Miles Gillet, who was previously in Salad Daze. The band's sound falls somewhere between Big Drill Car, Husker Du and grunge bands like Seaweed and Nirvana.
I think so, Tim.

Heavy Hitting
Staying with Wellington bands, Tough Love are in the hard rock mode and wear their love of AC/DC, Zeppelin Motorhead and early Motley Crue on black T-shirt sleeves. This band play no-nonsense rock and roll with the varied eternal themes of drinking, chasing women, drinking and chasing women.
Hit it!

Black Lick
Black Lick are a local band who have played support to a number of internationals. With two members holding US passports, the Wellington band themselves could qualify as internationals. The band have changed drummers a few times since the release of their original demo which I picked up a couple of years back. The band bulldoze with a rumbling Motorhead bass and Dwarves speed. Of course, this three song recording is no substitute for seeing them live.
